HEIRLOOM - Developed by Brad Gates at Wild Boar Farms in California, this famous and award-winning variety is actually an Open-Pollinated and Non-GMO heirloom. It has gained massive popularity and won the "Best In Show" award at the 2017 National Heirloom Expo. Brad's Atomic Grape Tomato was developed by crossing his existing striped cherry tomato with a high-anthocyanin variety. The ultimate goal was to create a larger, more firm grape tomato with exceptional color variability. Introduced in the mid-2010s, it immediately became famous for its multi-color appearance, crack-resistant skin, exceptionally sweet and complex flavor.
Plant Characteristics
Colors range from purple, lavender, blue, purple stripes, red/orange stripes, yellow, gold, olive green, red and brown/blue stripes. This variety has wispy or flimsy foliage but produces a lot of fruit, staking should be provided to help support the plant. Once you slice this tomato you’ll discover sweet but slightly tart green flesh with blushes of red and yellow. This is an indeterminate tomato type with excellent crack resistance. Tomato size will vary from a large grape tomato to a plum tomato. Plants will grow between 6-8 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide.
