Borage Seeds

Borage, also known as Starflower, is a beautiful flowering plant with its blue, star-shaped flowers and hairy stems and leaves. The young leaves have a refreshing, mild cucumber-like flavor and are used in salads and lemonade. The blue flowers can be candied or used as a garnish. Today borage is commercially cultivated for borage seed oil extracted from its seeds. It is also used for medicinal purposes. Borage is often referred to as a vegetable garden’s best friend because it attracts bees and repels predatory insects. The plant is best consumed after harvest since dried leaves have little of the cucumber-like flavor. Borage also makes a good honey plant.
