Add drama to the back of the border by growing cleome! Cleome plants have large clusters of spider-like flowers atop single, prickly stems. Cleome is also known as spider flower because of its long stamens and clawed petals. The intricate, large and showy flowers come in shades of white, purple, rose, and pink. Flowers of the cleome plant bloom from midsummer until frost. Cleomes make beautiful cut flowers and also attract hummingbirds and butterflies. If you want to add sparkle to every other color in the garden, we recommend growing White Queen. If you want an assortment of color, we recommend growing Mixed Colors. Cleome grows well in average soil in full or nearly full sun.
